How does VelaShape work?
VelaShape Treatment is a new effective treatment for body contouring and cellulite. VelaShape uses deep penetrating radio frequency energy combined with infrared energy to stimulate fat cell metabolism reducing the size and number of the fat cells, and eliminating cellulite. The VelaShape device gently kneads the affected area and applies pulsating suction to improve local circulation, encouraging lymphatic drainage and elimination of fat byproducts. The suction acts to stretch fibrous bands that cause dimples resulting in a smoothing out of cellulite. It is effective for all skin types.

What is the treatment like
The light energy pre-heats the treatment area. Simultaneously, a gentle suction aids in the deep penetration of the radio frequency energy into the fat tissue-redistributing and increasing the metabolism of the fat tissue. It also has the added benefit of improved circulation, supporting overall health. There is generally no discomfort and treatments are compared to a warm, deep muscle massage. There is mild pinkness in the skin and the skin feels warm for a short time. Some patients rarely may experience bruising if they are very prone to this. The treatment takes approximately 45 minutes

What is the Post Treatment Care?
There is no downtime with VelaShape and all activities can resume as normal. The area that was treated might feel slightly warm and feel a little tender for a couple of hours after the procedure.

How many treatments are necessary?
The treatment regimen for VelaShape is typically once a week treatments for 4 weeks to reached desired outcome. The number of treatments required could vary according to the severity of the excess fat or cellulite. As new fat and cellulite is a dynamic process, maintenance is recommended. This again varies, but one treatment every 3-4 months is the most optimal to avoid recurrence of new fat or cellulite.

What is the average amount of improvement that studies have demonstrated?
Studies have shown that nearly everyone will see a noticeable improvement after an initial series of treatments. Studies have proven that an average improvement for all patients on the appearance of cellulite was at least 65 per cent. Hip girth was also reduced and all patients reported feeling skin contraction as a result of the treatments.  Visible changes are often noticeable after 1 or 2 treatments. There is usually visible and measurable contouring of the lumps and bumps of the skin as evidenced by post-treatment photos, girth measurements, and what most patients love the most….how their favorite pair of jeans seem to fit much better! Men seem to respond very well to VelaShape treatments for contouring of torso and abdominal areas.

How does a VelaShape treatment differ from Endermologie?
Endermologie is a deep mechanical massage. It uses a device that suctions the skin with a vacuum which will lift the skin – to stretch the fiber bands and massage the underlying fat. This suction of Endermologie has created unacceptable side effects such as bruising, broken blood vessels, and pain. With endormologie, typically only 50% of patients will respond, and the results are only temporary. The satisfaction rate with Endermologie seems very low.  VelaShape adds infrared energy and radiofrequency energy, and is an FDA approved Class II medical device, while Endermologie has a lower Class I household classification.

Does the VelaShape ® replace Liposuction?
For many people, VelaShape will be a safer, gentler, less downtime alternative to liposuction. The VelaShape ® is also a terrific compliment to liposuction. Liposuction will remove fat in specific areas and can improve the shape of your body. The problem with liposuction is that it removes the fat deep down beneath the skin but cannot get close enough to the surface to help cellulite. In fact liposuction can actually make cellulite look worse.
